Information about Kavos beach
Kavos is a long (more than 2 kilometers) sandy beach, in front of the homonymous very popular tourist resort, situated at a distance of 49 kilometers southeastern to the town of Corfu and counts some 850 permanent residents.
You will certainly enjoy swimming at Kavos beach. You will find facilities for swimming and sunbathing, as well as sea sport facilities, including a diving center both for beginners and for experts. The shallow sea and the sand make the beach ideal for families with small children. Some snack bars for a light meal and refreshments are available on the beach, where you can enjoy your coffee or you drink having an excellent view of the opposite coast of Epirus.

Beach location: Kavos is one of Corfu's most southerly beaches, accessed straight through the resort centre! The roads down are narrow, however, and best tackled on foot.
Disabled access: Yes. A flat resort with several access points to the beach for wheelchairs.
Car parking: Very limited. Some parking available at tavemas and other outlets but the best advice has to be to park in Kavos resort and walk. Food outlets/restaurants: Everything conceivable!
Sand/pebbles/shingle: Sand extending into open sea. Some weed at the waterline in places. Sunbeds/umbrellas: Yes. Even hammocks! Showers: Certain outlets provide showers and toilets.
Safe for children: The sea is placid despite the open environment. However, wind can whip up and it's very busy and large so best to supervise younger swimmers. Watersports operate in some areas. The main anxiety has to be the large amount of bottles, other glassware and litter in the sea. This coupled with the presence of dead fish and sea birds at the waterline will cause some anxiety. Watersports: Yes - lots.
Main users: Teenage tourists (in the afternoon). Tends to be empty in the mornings!
Well cared for: No. For a large resort, it's inadequate. Mooring for boats: No.
Next to quayside/harbour: No. Storm drains/outlets into sea: Yes. Storm drains leave stagnant pools at several points. Natural shady areas: No. Kavos beach is relatively exposed.
Any other facilities: Full resort facilities. Distance to main resorts: Kavos 0-2 km depending on location of your accommodation. Public transport: Yes. Buses and taxis. Blue Flag: No

Access from the capital (Corfu, 49 kilometers) is easy by public bus (the green ones), by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes. Excursion boats depart daily from the small port of the village for several coastal villages of the island. At the port you may also rent a boat for a more solitary and romantic short trip.
