Laganas, Zante GREECE - Guide to Laganas holidays
Laganas is the best known resort on Zante due to its great nightlife reputation. It is the largest and liveliest resort on the island and is to be found on the south coast of Zante . Small hills line the resort and gradually rise to the mountains that characterise the west of Zakynthos. However, the resort itself is mainly flat land which hugs the large sweeping bay forming the long, popular sandy Lagana beach. Much of the accommodation in and around Lagana is surrounded by verdant scenery such as olive groves and fruit orchards – even near to the centre of the resort.
Laganas has one of the best beaches on the island, a huge beach of about 5 km long with soft sand that gently shelves into the warm crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea. Laganas would not be the best choice of resort for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday but if you are young or a party animal and want to dance the night away or spend it pub crawling the numerous bars (there are over 100!) this is definitely the resort for you!

Information about Laganas beach
Laganas’s beach is the largest on the island, of exquisite natural beauty. It’s 9 km long, with warm, clean waters. You need more than an hour to walk along the beach end-to-end! There are umbrellas and sunbeds for rent, and there are many taverns along the beach. If you don’t like the crowded center of the beach, just a few minutes of walking will take you to a more quiet spot. Laganas beach is ideal for children, owing to the shallow, warm waters and the fine sand. Laganas’s beach has been a reproduction place for the world-famous Caretta sea turtle.
Their egg-laying period coincides with the summer vacations. During July and August, the female turtles come ashore to bury their eggs about 50 cm in the sand. The warm sand causes the eggs to hatch and the baby turtles emerge 8 weeks later, immediately heading to the moonlit sea. So, in order to protect the turtle, no power sea sports or boats are allowed at the eastern part of Laganas’s bay. Also, people are not allowed at the beach after sunset. However, during the daylight hours, you may watch the turtles in their natural environment using special glass-bottom boats.
There are numerous small boats that take people to other beaches

Getting to Laganas - Zante
There is frequent bus service to the town of Zakynthos and many places where one may rent a car, jeep, bicycle or bike. There is also a taxi station on the main road of Laganas, next to the beach.

Laganas Zante holiday Reviews
Laganas is amazing!!! - Jellybean. Date of travel: Aug 2006
The night life in Laganas is the best!!! Rescue, Cherry Bay, and la bamba are theeee best places to go!!! I also went to the island party which was fun although crossing the rickety bridge was scary! lol. Food is pretty much the same everywhere but what annoyed me were all the people that stop you in the street and practically beg you to come inside by offering free shots and 10% discounts! Also watch out for the gypsy kids that ask you to buy glow sticks in the street! Their parents would carry a baby and stop and beg you to buy some, and while your not looking the kids would pick-pocket you! All in all i defo recommend everyone to go to Laganas!!! Oh yeh, try out the water village that's good! Do not, do not, do not go on the boat trip around the the island! It's incredibly boring - basically 8hrs of sea sickness and staring at rocks! A bit of advice though, dont book it with your rep because its a lot cheaper if you book it at the information place along the strip! Some may be dodgy though so watch it!
