Information about Sidari beach
The long sandy
beach of Sidari is situated in front of the homonymous very popular and crowded enough tourist resort, within a wonderful landscape, some 36 kilometers Northwestern to the town of Corfu. In fact there are three successive beaches, very close one to another. The beaches are at their major part sandy and partly with small pebbles, with shallow and safe water, ideal for families with small children. However, you are advised to be careful when entering the sea, as the water is very cold, even in full summer. Swimming and sunbathing is marvelous at the nice, well-organised sandy beaches of the village, awarded a blue flag: at the beach beside the small port, or at the long beach with shallow and safe sea, ideal for children and with numerous sunbeds and umbrellas.
Finally, you may swim at the famous beach with the romantic name “Canal d’ amour” (“the Channel of Love”). Here, you will swim among the rocks transformed to natural sculptures by the wind and the water. If you like sea sports, a Water Park is available for you. And, if you like to have a light meal when at the beach, several snack bars are available.
Beach location: Accessed from the main road through the resort (which is one of the furthest of those located in northern Corfu), Take any of the signposted lanes down to Sidari beach. Follow these secondary roads for a distance of between 0-1 km. depending on the road chosen.
Disabled access: Substantially flat and accessible for wheelchairs.
Car parking: There is a large car park behind Sidari beach but this often gets very busy and you may have to park on the roadside, some distance from the beach.
Food outlets/restaurants: Yes-the widest possible selection.
Sand/pebbles/shingle: A sand beach that suffers from incoming weed periodically. This is not always cleaned promptly, or it's left in (smelly) rotting mounds. There are also small stones in places. A very large beach. The nearby Canal d'Amour, although smaller, is scenically more attractive.
Sunbeds/umbrellas: Yes.
Showers: Surprisingly few if any shower points. For toilets, use the beach bars or tavernas.
Safe for children: This is a very shallow and sandy beach-ideal for children.
Watersports: Yes. Extensive watersports facilities at certain points plus boat hire available to explore the surrounding coastline.
Main users: Tourists (thousands of them).
Well cared for: In most places, yes but it suffers from too many visitors and can sometimes be dirty and littered.
Mooring for boats: No.
Next to quayside/harbour: No.
Storm drains/outlets into sea: None observed. There is a less than attractive river outlet however.
Natural shady areas: An exposed beach with only the bars and tavernas available for retreat.
Any other facilities: Full resort facilities.
Distance to main resorts: Sidari 0-2 km. depending on location of accommodation. Roda is 7km.
Public transport: Buses and taxi rank.
Blue Flag: Yes
Sidari Corfu holiday Reviews:
Sidari - Liam. Date of travel: Sep 2006
Had a fantastic holiday in Sidari and would recommend it to anyone, especially young lads or girls going with their mates. Its not as bustling as places like Magalluf however it has great nightlife, the best i have been to! Definteley go to Ceasers, Ice bar, Shakers and the Bed bar, which are all brilliant. i am definetley going back next year, because of the nightlife and the friendly people. the beach is ok but isnt the best, however the night will make you want to come back every year. Great music, the clubs look out onto the beach, and the place offers the correct assets for a great nite out. Didnt want to come home!! Great holiday.
